Welcome

Welcome to Primary Colours ABC, where we are building a sustainable future through education. Our mission is to influence an intellectually strong and competitive generation through literacy and digital empowerment, and our vision is to establish an enriching library environment where all members of the public have the opportunity to grow intellectually, learn continuously, and thrive in a competitive digital world.

The library was founded in 2021 in Lubowa, a suburb of Kampala, by UK-based education enthusiast James Arthur, in response to the devastating impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, which left many children without access to learning opportunities.

In 2023, due to financial constraints, the library was unable to continue operating in Lubowa and relocated to the Bugonga community in Entebbe. There, we were generously offered a two-year rent-free space by the Art of a Child Organisation (AOC), allowing our work to continue.

Today, over 90% of our books are donations from generous individuals and partners. Most operational costs are personally supported by James through limited personal income. Due to resource constraints, the day-to-day running of the library is led by Teddy, a dedicated and passionate leader, with support from both local and international volunteers. The library serves over 30 members including children aged from 8 years on a daily basis.
